30 people were allegedly killed while four police officers and the village head of Ntan Obu Ukpe in Eniong in Odukpani local government area of Cross River State were beheaded in a communal clash between the Ntan Obu and the Ikpanya in Ibiono local government area of Akwa Ibom State on Tuesday. According to a local newspaper, about 2,000 indigenes of Ntan Obu were forced to take refuge in nearby communities of Odukpani council as many houses including churches were destroyed during the crisis. The Chairman of Odukpani Local council, Stephen Asuquo, while confirming the incident, told journalists that the people of Ntan Obu were attacked by the Ikpanaya neighbouring community of Akwa Ibom State, last week. "The remote cause, I can say, is the struggle by people from the Ikpanya for the land that belongs to the Ntan Obu.Ikpanya is in Ibiono council of Akwa Ibom State while Ntan Obu is in Odukpani council in Cross River State," he said. A High Court in Abakaliki on Wednesday sentenced three men to death by hanging for robbery. The condemned men Chukwuma Idenyi, Nwobodo Omebe and Monday Ekwe of Izzi and Abakaliki Local Government Areas dispossessed their victims the sum of N180,925 although sun online reports N108,925 Delivering the judgment, Justice Paul Elechi, held that the prosecutor proved his case beyond reasonable doubt. This is a really disturbing story of a 29-year-old man, Eme Friday, who raped the corpse of a 19-year-old girl he gagged to death in Epe area of Lagos State. PEST Control Association of Nigeria, PECAN, said recently that no fewer than 3,000 Nigerians die annually from Lassa fever. According to the association, "this statistics is alarming, especially when we realize that a total of 5,000 people die annually from the disease in West Africa." and Nigeria has more than one-third of that figure. Mr. Ayo Ogunyedeka, President, PECAN, said Lassa fever is an acute viral infection caused by the Lassa virus, caused by rats that could be found anywhere. He said the virus was first discovered in 1969 in Lassa in Borno State, which lent it the name lassa fever. According to him, "the virus lives in rats and infects human beings when they come in contact with rats droppings, urine and food contaminated with them, and saliva of rodents. Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomole has decided to help the people of his state cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal, he  said in a broadcast on Thursday that he was conscious of immediate measures to alleviate the effects of the subsidy removal. Adams Oshiomole announced the cancellation of all administration of fees and levies, PTA levies in all public senior secondary schools for both indigenes and residents.  He also reduced the  fees of the state-owned Ambrose Ali University (AAU), Ekpoma by N15,000 for each regular  undergraduate student irrespective of state of origin, and N5,000 reduction fees for each part-time undergraduate student. Chevron Corp says it has ended the search for 2 workers who went missing during a fire outbreak at an off-shore rig within our coastal delta waters. The company released a statement today saying it extends it condolences to the families of the missing persons, but did not declare however that the missing persons were dead. The company stated that they have been able to account for the 152 persons that were at work on the rig and the near by barge when the fire started on monday except for the 2persons that have gone missing since the fire outbreak, the fire was believed to have resulted from a mechanical malfunction or a build up of gas pressure. He was also up for 2 Dynamix award nominations, one for most enterprising student and another for most stylish youth of the year. Although he didn't win, you can bet that this fashion writer, actor/artiste will always be in our face, thrilling us with his amazing talents. You go man.

Hmmm! what can i say about this guy, he keeps getting into funny situations every now and then but the good thing about him is that he keeps making the best out of it and simply moves on. Recently the young super star was called to take the stage at the just concluded KOGA top ten mics on Dec 23rd where i heard he arrived the venue already HIGH and with that kind of swagger he ran across the stage and forgot where the stage was supposed to end, hehehe! I heard he was helped back to the stage by amused spectators. whether or not he was ashamed that he fell i wouldn`t know cause i heard he laughed it off saying " na wa for those who do this stage o, dey wan wound man pickin" .... I just hope he`s more careful next time.
