Barely two weeks after an explosion killed more than 15 people in northern Nigeria's Kaduna State, another blast occurred on Monday in Angwa Magaji area of the city injuring three suspects.
The three suspected bomb-makers seriously injured in the blast were first taken to the headquarters of the Kaduna State Police Command before they were transferred to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
Witness told Xinhua that one of the suspects was gasping for breath before they were taken to the hospital by the police. No death was recorded in the blast. The police also recovered three guns from the buildings destroyed by the blast.
The blast which ripped through three adjourning houses in the area also destroyed the buildings suspected to be serving as a bomb factory. The roofs of the three houses were blown off by the impact of the blast.
State police spokesperson Aminu Lawan confirmed the incident, saying the site was a suspected bomb-making factory and illegal armoury.
Lawan told Xinhua that the three suspects were also the victims seriously injured during the blast which occurred around 1: 30 p.m. local time.
He said the blast occurred at the house located on Ibrahim Rintiyi Street while the three suspects
were in the process of making some Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).
According to him, the three injured suspects were
already in the custody of the police. Security sources in Kaduna told Xinhua that the explosion created pandemonium as residents of the area scampered two kilometers away to the campus of the Nigerian Defense Academy for refuge.
