ADAMS OSHIOMOLE CUSHION'S EFFECT OF SUBSIDY TO PEOPLE OF EDO STATE.

Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomole has decided to help the people of his state cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal, he  said in a broadcast on Thursday that he was conscious of immediate measures to alleviate the effects of the subsidy removal.

Adams Oshiomole announced the cancellation of all administration of fees and levies, PTA levies in all public senior secondary schools for both indigenes and residents.  He also reduced the  fees of the state-owned Ambrose Ali University (AAU), Ekpoma by N15,000 for each regular  undergraduate student irrespective of state of origin, and N5,000 reduction fees for each part-time undergraduate student.

"The total revenue of this reduction will be paid to the university by the Edo state government in addition to the N210 million monthly subvention" he said. Free medical treatment for pensioners and senior citizens both indigenes and non-indegenes from 70 years and above resident in the state, non increase in current transport fares by Edo City Transport Services, and 50 percent subsidy on transport fares for primary school pupils and secondary school students in uniform.

Adams Oshiomole said all these would take effect from 1st of February 2012.
