FORBES RELEASES THE TOP 5 WEALTHEST HIP-HOP STARS OF 2012

In 2007 when forbes first started ranking hip-hops cash kings, it was Jay Z, Diddy and 50, as top 1-2-3's now in 2012 and after 5 editions, its only fitting that these 3 big boys retain their inclusion in the most exclusive hip-hop lists of 2012.

But this time the orders have changed as Diddy now leads the pack of the 5 wealthiest artiste and is the closest to becoming a billionaire with a net worth of $550million owed largely to his self-owned record label of 15years Bad Boy Record, his Ciroc Vodka powered by Diageo not to mention his clothing line Sean Jean as well as Enyce, a marketing firm called blue flame, but this cash king is likely to remain no.1 in 2013 if he hits billionaire status by then owing to a new deal with Comcast that will allow Diddy own a cable channel which he plans to call Revolt, if this happens, he definitely will remain no.1 on forbes top 5 for 2013.

Next on the list is Jay Z with a net worth of $460million, he is not very far away from Diddy both in cash and industry, the rapper has an empire life style and tries to turn everything he likes into a business, with a massive night-club chain (40/40 night clubs), cosmetic company(Carol's Daughter), ads firm -Translation, stakes in the New Jersey Nets, not forgetting his $150million deal with Live Nation and his sale of Roca wear label for $204million, you kinda wonder when he is ever going to spend all this money.

At no 3 is the man of Beats- Dre. Dr Dre ranks at 3 with a net worth of $270million, his total net worth doubled this year from last year following the massive sale of his headphones plus a deal with HTC mobile phones who paid $300million to acquire 51% stake of Beats Electronics founded by Dre and Interscope chief Jimmy Iovine.

At no.4 is the maybach loving Birdman with a total net worth of $125million, Birdman and brother Ronald "slim" Williams founded Cashmoney label which we might say owes some of its success to the successes of rappers like Drake, Nicki Minaj and Lil-wanye who recently stepped down as president of Young Money label a sub-label under Cash Money.

Rounding up the Forbes 5 at the no.5 spot is Curtis "50cent" Jackson at $110million in net worth you might say the Queens born rapper didn't do badly at in 2012, he earned a whooping $100million from the sale of his Vitaminwater stakes in 2007 and more millions from tours, record sales, a bustling acting career, shoes & clothing lines, books and his 50cent themed video games, not forgetting also his new SMS headphones which you might have seen in most of his videos, Now don't be sad for this rapper at no.5 for his fortunes are likely to increase owing to his new energy shots called street kings which promises to feed hungry children and 50's bank account.
